Students and Bullying

Fairborn Digital Academy is dedicated to protecting all of our students from bullying, hazing and other destructive behaviors.

What is bullying?

Bullying is an intentional written, verbal or physical act that a student has exhibited toward another particular student more than once. The behavior causes both mental or physical harm to the other student and is sufficiently severe, persistent or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational environment for the other student.

What is hazing?

Hazing is using intimidation or harassment to force a student to do any act that creates a substantial risk to himself or others.

No students are permitted to plan, encourage or engage in any type of hazing and/or bullying. All employees at Fairborn Digital Academy are alert to possible hazing or bullying incidents, and are required to stop the activity immediately and report it to the principal, who will administer the appropriate discipline. Last year, Fairborn Digital Academy had one incident of a student bullying another and the behavior was stopped; the incident was resolved satisfactorily.

It is illegal to retaliate against an employee or student because he/she files a grievance or assists in an investigation regarding hazing or bullying.
